Battered Women
Task Force Services
Since 1977, the YWCA Battered
Women Task Force (BWTF) has worked to make sure that help is
available for survivors of domestic or sexual violence. As advocates,
we are not here to judge, only to help. We discuss all options
available to victims of violence. All services for victims are
available free of charge. The YWCA BWTF offers a variety of services
for victims of violence and the community.

Senate Bill 462
Helps Visitation
and Exchange Centers
In Kansas
Dear Supporters of Visitation
and Exchange Programs:
Download a copy of
Senate Bill #462 which is meant to generate much needed revenue
for Visitation/Exchange Progams across the state. Currently,
there are 13 centers operating in Kansas that are funded by marriage
license fees, Federal support dollars and local foundations.
However, this source of revenue is not stable and cannot support
the services currently in operation. Therefore, a new source
of revenue was passed last year through this bill which supports
and enhance services for all Kansas communities who need a safe
neutral environment for parent/child contact and parent/child
exchange. Please help centers to provide victims of family violence
and child abuse a secure alternative.
We need your help! Contact
your local state representative at kslegislature.org and
request they not cut funding for visitation and exchange centers.
Thank you for your support!

It's a wonderful new service
sponsored in Topeka by the United Way of Greater Topeka. People
have an amazing number of needs which can be met by some organization
or another. The trick is connecting the person in need with the
service provider.
Nancy Perry, president of the
Topeka United Way, said that by dialing 211, Kansans will be
connected to a trained staff member, based in a call center in
Wichita, who can direct the caller to organizations in the caller's
area that can address the specific need.
"They walk you through it,"
Perry said. "They find out what you truly need. Is it rent/utilities?
Is it food? You don't get that kind of service from a phone book."
