No one knows kids better than the Kansas Children’s
Service
League. For more than 100 years, we’ve provided a continuum of programs
and services, advocated for children, and collaborated with public and
private agencies to impact the lives of more than 40,000 children and
families each year. KCSL is dedicated to providing services and
advocacy efforts that focus on keeping children safe, families strong,
and communities involved.

Since
1977, the YWCA Battered Women Task Force (BWTF) has worked to make sure
that help is available for survivors of domestic or sexual violence. As
advocates, we are not here to judge, only to help. We discuss all
options available to victims of violence. All services for victims are
available free of charge. The YWCA BWTF offers a variety of services
for victims of violence and the community.

Topeka Gives!
In
celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Topeka Community Foundation
has slated Topeka Gives. The event takes place 7 am to 6 pm, June 19,
at Fairlawn Plaza. TCF has pledged up to $30,000 in matching grants to
nonprofits for all money donated on Topeka Gives day.
Dozens of area nonprofit organizations are signed up to participate in
Topeka Gives. On June 19, people are invited to come to Fairlawn Plaza,
write a check to TCF and indicate the organizations among which they'd
like the amount divided. At the end of the day, TCF will divide its
match, prorating the amount if donations exceed $30,000. The
money will be given with no strings attached.
Safe
Visit, which offers 30
one-hour, supervised visits, as well as monitored children exchanges,
four days a week, had half its budget stripped away after United Way
pulled its funding this year.
For several
months, the
agency operated month to month, not sure how long it could
continue. Thankfully, program administrator Connie Sanchez said,
she isn't thinking in those terms anymore. More....

If Your Kids Could
Make the Rules of Divorce
In week six of Children of Divorce and Changing Families' 8-week
program, we do an exercise where we ask each child in the 10-12
year old group to create a set of rules that they wish their parents
would follow to ease post divorce stresses.
